Two chat-bots which help to send signals into space

Visitors to the festival could send a message to the screen, and from there, with the help of visualization, it “flew” into the sky. And further into space.
In the summer of 2021, at the Signal Music Festival in Nikola-Lenivets, Sila Sveta installed the Contact installation. It was a 50-meter "emotional antenna" with an LED screen.
Client
Context
Sila Sveta - an interactive media studio. It designs stages for famous artists, makes installations and urban events around the world.
Create a chat bot through which users can send a message to the "antenna". And further into space.
Task
Interesting fact
This was our first integration of a chat-bot with visual installation
Here is text converted into a signal in space, but mechanics can be used in another way. It can be interactive: the user can make another object by communicating with the bot.
Difficulties of the project
01/
Texts could be sent and seen by all visitors. Human ingenuity is still so good and sometimes can be strange that even the smartest bot can be fooled. This means that forbidden topics could leak onto the screen.
Problem
We did double moderation. Bulk of moderation chat bot did it automatically. And then the second bot sent the phrases selected for publication to the client’s telegram chat for manual moderation
Solution
We made a lag of 5 minutes between messages from the user and we gently remind him about this.
Solution
So that one person does not capture the entire broadcast and does not overheat the second, manual stage of support, spammers also had to be filtered.
Problem
This is not news: the Telegram bot communicates by text. It means, that these texts should be good - we should not hide them over beautiful design or wow-mechanics. But there are a lot of messages: to explain rules, to warn about publication and to reject text
Problem
After the dialogue designer, the copywriter took over the texts for the bot. So they became not just a set of technical reactions but sounded humane and understandable.
Solution
What can be sent?
What to do with spam?
How to communicate with users?
How it works?
02/
User writes a message in telegram-bot
If the text is accepted, it queues up for display. The bot notifies the user when their text appears on the screen and travels further into space.
Great, we show and load the text into space - this is done on the client side.
Texts without taboo topics are subject to manual moderation. Here is the second bot. It sends messages to the client channel. Here you can skip it on the screen or reject it.
The message goes to automatic moderation. Here the bot checks for a set of forbidden words and topics, such as swear words. Such texts are rejected - and the bot says so.
